Ice Cream Dream Feat. Booja Booja

"Deeply rich, truffley smooth chocolate dairy free luxury ice cream alternative made with cashew nuts".

I was sold immediately after reading that sentence.

For a long time i've seen Booja Booja cropping up on the Instagrams' of flawless favourites Millie Mac, Madeleine Shaw and Deliciously Ella and a couple of weeks ago I finally got my hands on a tub. (Thanks mega Ocado discount.)  If you have no idea what or who Boojo Booja are - they are an award winning Vegan chocolate and ice cream alternative brand. So yes that means no dairy, totes organic, gluten free, refined sugar free, and even soya free products.

They basically offer completely guilt free moments of indulgence - If you have a sweet tooth you will totally fall in love with this brand. For a Friday night treat it's just perfection. Their Ice Cream alternative is available in 5 flavours each with intriguing names to match the originality of their combinations.

>Coconut Hullabaloo
>Hunky Punky Chocolate
>Fiesty Rollercoastery Ginger
>Keep Smiling Vanilla M'Gorilla
>Pompompous Maple Peacan

... Are you drooling yet? Their clean and wholesome flavours only
contain 4/5 carefully sourced ingredients and are sweetened with plant based Agave Syrup. I wasn't expecting the Hunky Punky to taste quite so rich and creamy as it did, with the absence of milk and cream I was skeptical of how similar to real ice cream it could be but I was totally amazed at how well creamy blended cashews substituted the dairy.

All in all it contains just:

Water, Agave Syrup*, Cashew Nuts*, Cocoa Powder* (5.5%).
*=organically grown ingredients.

I would thoroughly recommend it as a summery dessert if you want something satisfying and with some nutritional value! Resisting eating the whole tub in one go however, is a definite challenge I'll leave you to battle with...

HIIT with HiitBoxx Nottingham

Since leaving home around 4 years ago and taking more of an interest in fitness and nutrition my body as taken a bit of a battering. It's only when you sit back and review progress or look back on your schedule you realise quite how much you expect of your body or sometimes how unrealistic and high pressured your expectations are.

In recent weeks i've spoken about how I'm persevering with yoga and varying my workout routines somewhat to be flexible with how I'm feeling and other commitments - instead of bull-dozing through intense workouts, leaving no time for warm downs or really even considering my 3 day D.O.M. S may be a sign I need a rest day or lighter session.

Instead of a monotonous 5 day a week weights programme (with 2 cardio and 1 abs specific session thrown in) I've promised myself June will be more varied and nurturing. - Still highly active but meditation, outdoor running and functional strength training will play a larger part.

With that said, I've recently become fond of HiitBoxx. A new boutique group circuit class utilising body weight, boxing, kettlebell, skipping and battle rope training. The class is all made up of compound movements to ensure maximum effort from the whole body during 30 minutes. It's a great compliment to a strength programme or even marathon training to provide an overall cardio blast. Experox Sports Performance host the classes in Nottingham, (So if you're local be sure to check them out!)  The support and structure a class workout provides is great to do once a week to maintain motivation and ENJOY your workouts. It's over before you know it and you'll leave feeling satisfied and full of feel good endorphines. - Just remember to warm down...

If you don't get that "feel great" vibe after your workouts, how about you mix them up too? If you want to get involved with HiitBoxx be sure to keep your eyes out for classes and keep up to date with Instagram and check out my photo diary below.

Maybe I'll see you there.

Fuel Your Fitness

So 4pm comes around and you feel a bit peckish. You're off to the gym after work and probably won't eat dinner til about 8pm... Yay it must be snack time.

For years I was getting my nutrition all wrong, and i'm still not quite there, (who really, honestly is?) but this year the penny has dropped that fuelling your body properly and at the right time results in a much better, stronger and powerful workout - leaving you with some feel good vibes and being satisfied with your efforts.

My new favourite, SO moreish, better-for-you-than-a-cookie snack is The Food Doctor's Roasted Bean Mix. A handful before you hit a round of circuits will give you the boost you need and more importantly, they taste incredible. Portion control is crucial, a bag should last you 8 servings, but it can't be denied as an alternative to nuts this mix packs a punch.

I grabbed mine in Waitrose, but you can read up on the delights of the brand and and fill your basket here. They provide you with more fibre and protein than crisps but the same crunchy, lightly salted yumminess.

Smiles all round.

Have A Field Day With Asics

New trainers make you run faster, didn't you know?!

In a recent moment of madness I entered a half Marathon. Yes, this is the kick up the backside I need to up my cardio fitness and re-kindle my love with fair weather Summer running. With the entry therefore rose the perfect excuse to treat my feet with some Ascis love! I am adoring my choices in trainer so here's a quick write up of my thoughts on these beaut kicks!

Firstly, the Gel-Kayanos (on the left)an absolute dream to wear. All the time! They are perfect for you over-pronaters and will 100% give you the support and structure you need to increase comfort and your running efficiency.

Ascis reckon they "hug your feet and cushions the impact to make your 26th mile as comfortable as your first." And I have to agree. You feel totally light and bouncy and this colourway had me head over heels. I'll let you know how they bear up over 13 miles...!

Next on my list (purely to spur on my training) was a new pair of cross training/gym class/ weight lifting sneaks. Sooo introducing the Gel Fit Tempo's! "Comfort and stability for any activity" is a pretty accurate description. Running more than 3 miles in them is a big no no, my calves ached baaad when I did, but for everything else they're a perfect fit. Flexibility, support and cushioning are just as you need them. I've found them to also be super breathable and flexible for high impact classes where agility is required!

Both pairs are currently available at Sweaty Betty so if you also love, make sure you grab a pair in this seasons colour!...And wish me luck in training...
